Congratulations on beginning your journey at Assumption! Your first year is exciting, full of new experiences and opportunities. At the Career Development & Internship Center (CDIC), we help you explore your interests, values, and strengths as you build the foundation for your future.

Self-Reflection and Interest Exploration Matter in Your First Year

Your first year is the ideal time to reflect on what inspires you and to discover the academic and career paths that fit you best. Early exploration helps you make informed choices about your major, get involved on campus, and set meaningful goals for your college experience and beyond. The CDIC is here to guide you every step of the way.

Checklist:

  • Log in to the Assumption University Virtual Career Center at career.assumption.edu and familiarize yourself with the resource. Update your profile “preferences” to receive curated emails with relevant content.
  • Complete the three Focus 2 assessments online to identify your interests, work interests, and skills. Combine your assessment results to see occupations and majors that match your interests and skills.
  • Log in to your Assumption University Handshake account and complete your profile. Familiarize yourself with this platform.
  • Meet with your Faculty Advisor to understand your course path options.
  • Create a college-level resume.
  • Upload your CDIC-approved resume to your Handshake profile.

  • Club & Activities Fair Sponsored by OSEAL
  • Career & Internship Fair
  • Alumni Career Networking Night
  • All Things LinkedIn Event + Headshots
  • Other Career Development & Internship Center events.

Spring Semester

  • Career & Internship Fair + Headshots
  • Alumni Networking Night
  • Other Career Development & Internship Center events.

Schedule the following appointments:

Fall Semester

  • Major Exploration (If needed)
  • Resume Development/ Review

Spring Semester

  • “Other” Appointment – To develop your preliminary career vision.
