Do you have a knack for storytelling? The MMAC is seeking a motivated communications intern to join our team this summer. In this project-based role, you will collaborate with the communications team to create and deliver engaging content across multiple media platforms, strengthening the organization’s brand and highlighting the unique stories of the region’s business community.

The Role:

The Communications Intern plays a hands-on role in developing and executing creative content to capture and share compelling stories that showcase Milwaukee as a vibrant place to live and work.

What You’ll Do:

Content Strategy

  • Develop a comprehensive communication plan and an associated content calendar that aligns with the scope of the internship project.
  • In partnership with the Marketing Coordinator, measure the impact of the content strategy by tracking social engagement, website traffic and email performance.

Content Creation

  • Shoot and edit short-form video content for MMAC’s social media accounts.
  • Write engaging articles for the MMAC website, newsletter and magazine.
  • Capture photos at MMAC events for use across media platforms.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Collaborate across MMAC departments to gather and promote content.
  • Attend MMAC events to connect with members and develop content ideas.
  • Interview MMAC members, stakeholders and other community members for storytelling pieces.

Asset Management

  • Maintain a library of photos, videos and other assets.
  • Ensure proper permissions and usage rights for media.

What You Bring:

  • Strong communication skills (written, oral, interpersonal)
  • Excellent editing and proofreading skills
  • A proven ability to generate and execute creative ideas.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Experience with multimedia production and editing tools. 
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • A love for Milwaukee!

Education & Experience:

  • Full-time student or recent graduate pursuing a degree in communications, marketing, journalism, media studies or a related field.

Internship Details

  • Runs June 2 – August 18, 2026 (Dates negotiable).
  • Part-time (up to 20 hours per week).
  • $15/hour.
  • Must be located in the Greater Milwaukee area for the summer.
  • Must be available to work in-office Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
