ABOUT THE ROLE:
The City of Cambridge is seeking a talented self-starter to join our Talent Acquisition team as an Intern. This role offers valuable exposure for students aspiring to start or advance their careers in the Human Resources field. The Talent Acquisition Coordinator Intern will actively participate in the hiring process, providing crucial administrative support, managing inquiries, and contributing to cross-functional projects.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
- Assisting in reviewing incoming requisitions and job postings in the City’s Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
- Advertising positions on various job boards and social media channels.
- Sharing newly advertised positions with HR Liaisons across the City.
- Learning to build passive talent pipelines for hard-to-fill positions.
- Maintaining ongoing contact with community partner outreach lists to provide information and referral services to Cambridge residents, fostering a strong network with community agencies.
- Attending community events and job fairs to promote job opportunities.
- Assisting job applicants, both external and internal, interested in applying for City positions. Serving as the primary contact for those who call, email, or walk into the Human Resources office seeking employment information and/or advice.
- Learning about the interview process and assisting departments in applicant screening, developing interview questions, and scheduling.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
- Currently enrolled in an educational program with a strong interest in Human Resources.
- Demonstrates the ability to quickly learn new technologies and processes.
- Excellent communication skills with a strong focus on responsiveness and customer service.
- Ability to work with confidential information and consistently exercise good judgment.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and proactive in seeking clarification and asking questions when needed.
- Proficient in Microsoft (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Outlook.
- Exposure to HR-related software and knowledge of project management tools is a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work requires the ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer. Ability to read and analyze large quantities of information. Ability to travel back and forth from office locations.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is conducted primarily in a standard office environment which includes fluorescent lighting, air conditioning, computers, and other standard office equipment, but may also involve meetings in other offices or facilities at scattered site properties around the city.
