GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Berkshire Regional Planning Commission seeks an intern to assist with research, writing, social media, and outreach related to digital equity planning and implementation in communities across Berkshire County. BRPC is considered a municipal governmental organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Key responsibility: Assist with organizing and analyzing existing conditions using Census data and other publicly available information from the Department of Education, Massachusetts Library Association, and similar sources; identify grant funding to support the sustainability of future digital equity work related to digital literacy, skills, devices, and internet service.
- Key responsibility: Assist with attending and writing up notes from focus groups about digital equity conducted with identified populations such as rural residents, BIPOC and immigrant community members, seniors, veterans, incarcerated individuals, people with disabilities, and youth.
- Key responsibility: Help with creating social media toolkits and assets to build awareness about digital equity planning and implementation work in Berkshire County.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities)
- Enrolled in a vocational school, college, or graduate program with exposure to coursework on urban planning, computer science, social sciences, politics, economics, anthropology, geography, or a related field.
- Experience with writing, research, data analytics, community development, public engagement, communications, or related topics obtained through volunteering, a school internship, or a part-time or full-time job.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities)
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience with or willingness to gain a working knowledge of graphic design programs such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite, as well as Facebook and/or Instagram.
