STUDENT INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Campus Recreation Marketing Intern
DEPARTMENT: Campus Recreation
STATUS: Internship – 120 Hours/semester
REPORTS DIRECTLY TO: Director of Recreation
APPLICATION DEADLINE: May 30, 2024 or until filled
BASIC PURPOSE: Campus Recreation, and the Plourde Recreation Center is a part of the division of Student Affairs. As such, the Campus Recreation Graphic Design Intern contributes to the development of a vibrant co-curricular campus life that supports learning initiatives and educational opportunities within the context of Catholic Higher education.
This position is primarily responsible for creating promotional materials that will be used to promote events, activities and programs offered at the Plourde Recreation Center including, but not limited to, club sports, intramurals and fitness classes. This position works very closely with the Campus Recreation Marketing Intern to create posters and graphics for the department in order to make posters advertising the events, to attend various events in order to take pictures and video, and create and provide graphics and images that will be used to update the social media accounts regarding what is going on at the Plourde Recreation Center.
The intern will meet with the Director and Assistant Director of Recreation weekly to discuss new and ongoing goals and upcoming events in order to create promotional materials for current and upcoming events. This position will require 8-10 hours of work each week.
Responsibilities:
- Represent the Assumption University Campus Recreation by maintaining a professional attitude in keeping with the department’s mission.
- Attend weekly marketing meetings with the Director and/or Assistant Director of Recreation.
- Work with the Campus Recreation Marketing Intern to create posters and other marking materials for all Campus Recreation programs.
- Assist the Campus Recreation Marketing Intern with maintaining an active presence on all social media channels for the department and its Club Sports including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
- Responsible for taking the lead in establishing consistent branding through all print and digital promotion materials for the department
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
- Experience using Canva, InDesign and Photoshop
- Knowledge of social media websites including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
- Previous marketing Internship or coursework a plus
- Ability and willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as Plourde Recreation Center schedule requires.

- Must be willing to contribute actively to the mission of the University as well as show respect for the Catholic and Assumptionist identity of Assumption University.
- Ability to work independently and possess energy and enthusiasm.
- The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate, and have a strong verbal and written communication skills, the ability to effectively collaborate with campus departments and community members, the capacity for exceptional organization skills, and public speaking.
- Preference provided to students with a Graphic Design, Marketing or Communications major
- Additional preference provided to students with a past history of participating in Campus Recreation programs
Scope:
- Work is during business hours and some evenings/weekends.
- Works on designs on the Campus Rec computer.
