Megan O’Meara ’24

Why did you choose to attend the WNE School of Law? What aspects of the school or program interest you?

I chose to attend Western New England because the community reminded me of the Assumption community. Western New England offers small class sizes, and the faculty and staff have been beyond welcoming and want their students to succeed. This program also has many extracurricular organizations and opportunities for internships and externships which will help me gain greater exposure into the field.

What skills did you gain during your undergraduate career at Assumption will set you up for success in your graduate program?

While at Assumption I have studied political science and global studies. These majors have helped me develop critical thinking, active reading, and writing skills that I will continue to develop in my graduate program.

What are your career goals?

My career goal is to be an immigration lawyer. I have always had an interest in the immigration process, and I want to have the ability to help people in need.

What are you looking forward to most about graduate school?

I am looking forward to exploring Western Massachusetts and to start the next chapter in my education.

What advice would you give to a student who is interested in applying to graduate school?

I would tell other students to dream big and apply to the graduate programs they are interested in. I would also recommend talking to professors and other people in the field you are interested in to not only gain connections and opportunities but to also gain advice on the application process.
