Veterans Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit, is the largest provider of supportive services to veterans and their families across New England. We are looking for experienced addiction treatment professionals for our new behavioral health program, Independence Hall. Independence Hall offers a continuum of care, including inpatient treatment services, intensive outpatient programming, and outpatient counseling, to assist individuals in achieving their recovery goals. We are looking for innovative staff for our newly licensed inpatient clinical stabilization services program, which specializes in military service members and veterans. At Independence Hall we provide client-centered care and recovery-oriented treatment within a therapeutic environment. The qualified candidate must be a team player, a creative problem solver, and have a passion for helping others. Veterans are encouraged to apply but veteran status is not a requirement.
The position collaborates as a part of interdisciplinary treatment team at each site. The position provides guidance and counseling support as needed at Independence Hall by overseeing and accompanying the patient in various program activities to ensure conformance with program schedules, milieu standards, program activities and policies. At Grove Street, this position assists with the health, safety and welfare of our resident clients in a manner that promotes growth, independence and dignity. The position is primarily on the 11-7 shift at both sites and as such, must adjust the service delivery to accommodate the sleep/awake cycle of the clients.
This position would float between two locations 59 South Street, Shrewsbury, MA and 69 Grove Street, Worcester MA. We have part-time and full-time positions available. The full-time position has full benefits (health, dental, vision, 403B, paid time off, short/long term disability and life insurance, etc.). The part-time position does not include benefits with an exception to sick leave. The hourly rate $15.86 and is non-negotiable.
Must be able to pass a CORI and background investigation. Must be able to start within two weeks of receiving a verbal offer.

Essential Functions:
- Provides safety and security for all residents, staff, visitors and Veterans Inc. property on site.
- Maintains building security by ensuring keys are properly locked up and by conducting accountability rounds while on shift. Maintains security of company vehicles.
- At Grove Street, maintains resident safety and confidentiality by utilizing the wand and checking all bags as residents enter the facility; administering breathalyzer to all clients every time they enter the program; administering random urine testing on clients and forwards incoming calls for residents to voicemail.
- Answers the telephone and directs all incoming calls to the appropriate staff member. Maintains knowledge of ongoing program issues and developments and informs supervisor of issues and concerns. Prepares and submits detailed report of all activities, incidents and emergencies that occur during shift. Check email for all communications and scheduling throughout shift.
- Assists with training staff as needed.
- Keeps work area’s clean and organized.
- Performs light janitorial and maintenance duties as required to include mopping, sweeping, trash pick- up, etc.
- Assesses patient’s substance abuse history and current needs. Works with the patient and the team to develop substance abuse treatment goals and interventions.
- Conducts comprehensive assessments in the areas of substance abuse, housing, mental health, vocational, and social needs. Provides support, resources, education and both internal and external referrals for services.
- Works with community agencies along with and/or on behalf of patients and families.
- Provides feedback about treatment planning development based on their interactions with other consumers and families.
- Oversees client activities to ensure compliance with program activities and agency policies. Provides guidance and direct counseling as needed.
- Provides crisis intervention and emergency services as needed. Telephones supervisor for guidance and/or in emergency situations.
- Facilitates diverse client groups as needed.
- Completes program specific forms and required documentation in a timely manner. Maintains audit ready patient records according to Veterans Inc. policy and procedure.
- Attends and participates in all meetings as required.
- Completes individually assigned program specific duties and/or responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of high school diploma, GED or equivalent.
- Experience or education in substance abuse treatment required
- Must be able to successfully pass a CORI/Background records check.
- Must be willing to submit to and successfully pass a drug test.
- Must be in successful recovery for two or more years, if applicable.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years of experience in substance abuse treatment preferred.
- Associates degree, LADCII or LADC Assistant highly preferred.
- Yoga instruction, art therapy, or meditation training strongly preferred
