Summary: Works with individuals, teams and the Associate Director to assess and develop behavior support plans for addressing behaviors that interfere with a student’s daily functioning.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Acts as a primary resource to staff in understanding disabilities and positive behavioral support.
Provides ongoing in-service training to staff on disabilities and behavioral support as well as concepts and procedures for functional behavioral analysis, including methods for gathering and summarizing behavioral data.
Models positive behavioral support in an integrated team environment.
Performs direct observation of students for behavioral assessments and development.
Conducts behavioral assessments and writes behavior plans under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.
Designs, modifies, and implements behavioral support plans in conjunction with the treatment team and classroom.
Meets and consults with the Lead Behavior Specialist weekly on individuals observed.
Works with families and direct support staff in developing behavioral interventions.
Participates in annual reviews and meetings on student’s progress. Guides the team in planning and implementing appropriate behavioral services.
Maintains ongoing communications with service providers, treatment providers and team members to coordinate services.
Provides accurate, relevant data for review by Associate Director for shared cases.

Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college in psychology, special education or related field and two years related experience and/or training. Opportunity to receive BCaBA and BCBA supervision.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management.
Knowledge of statistical principles and ability to apply those principles.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a working knowledge of Word Processing software and familiarity with Internet applications.
Certificates and Licenses:
Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification or eligibile for Board certification in Behavior Analysis required. Certified New York State School Psychologist or eligibile for certification as a New York State School Psychologist.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Other Work Requirements
A valid New York State Driver’s License and ability to drive and driving record acceptable for agency insurance coverage are required. Must have daily access to their own vehicle and drive our students when the program requires it.
Required to complete, pass, and use CALM training, provided by the school, which includes deescalation strategies and approved protective holds and movements for students.
Occasional evening, night and weekend work.
