The Feeney Lab, based in the UCSF Division of Experimental Medicine at Zuckerberg San Francisco General (ZSFG) campus, seeks a highly motivated Staff Research Associate II (SRA II) to work as part of a research collaboration investigating the immune response to malaria, SARS-CoV-2, and pesticides.
The successful candidate will contribute to hypothesis-driven research projects under mentorship from the Principal Investigator (PI) and will assist with studies ongoing in our laboratory at UCSF as well as our field laboratory in Tororo, Uganda and local cohorts. Duties will include blood sample processing and performance of immunology assays, which include high-parameter flow cytometry, ELISA, cell culture, and molecular biology techniques, as well as some general lab duties such as inventory, ordering, and developing and updating Standard Operating Procedures. The successful candidate will be taught all necessary lab techniques and will work closely with postdoctoral fellows on hypothesis-driven projects, providing technical assistance and troubleshooting as needed, with potential opportunities for co-authorship on publications.
The Feeney laboratory is part of a larger academic division (the Division of Experimental Medicine) which hosts a vibrant weekly speaker series and frequent visiting scientists, and therefore provides an ideal work experience for candidates considering future graduate and/or medical studies.
The mission of the Division of Experimental Medicine, based at the Zuckerberg San Francisco General (ZSFG), is to understand the human immune system so that lifesaving therapies and vaccines can be developed to protect against chronic infectious diseases of global importance, such as HIV/AIDS; and to establish a training environment that fosters patient-oriented research, both here and abroad.
