The Humane Society Legislative Fund (HSLF) is a 501(c)(4) social welfare organization which seeks to pass animal protection laws at the state and federal level, to educate the public about animal protection issues, and to support humane candidates for office. HSLF has a unique internship opportunity to develop valuable real-world experience and gain knowledge of the legislative process, policy work, lobbying, political activity and how they intersect with animal protection issues. Interns will assist with a variety of tasks to help promote and achieve HSLF’s mission.The internship will also provide an opportunity to strengthen critical thinking and research skills while gaining in-depth knowledge of animal protection issues. Interns have the opportunity to meet with HSLF staff members to learn about each aspect of the organization and to attend HSLF meetings and educational presentations.Priority consideration is given to those who can commit to 40 hours per week for 12 weeks. This internship is unpaid; however, course credit can be arranged if applicable. Interns must pass a criminal background check and sign a waiver and release of liability.
