The Volunteer Database Management Intern will assist with the daily upkeep and operations of the Volunteer Programs & Internships Office Customer Relations Management (CRM) systems: Salesforce with Hands-On-Connect. Interns will analyze, participate in, update, and create business processes through Salesforce, playing a vital role in the function of the VPI office. Other skills and projects may include data analysis, data auditing, system administration, automating business processes, user interface design, and the use of FormAssembly, Mailchimp, and Calendly in connection with Salesforce.
This position will report to the Volunteer Engagement Specialist and will be an active participant in a dynamic team of four (including three staff positions) who work to connect the community of Greater Boston with service opportunities benefiting the Blue Planet.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Assists with database upkeep, customer service tickets, and data cleaning projects
Assists in the creation of automations to reduce errors, increase efficiencies, and improve service and experience for our volunteers and volunteer supervisors
Assist in auditing database usage and brainstorming changes to streamline current processes.
Completes Salesforce trailheads and research solutions as needed
Manages entry of hours, contacts, files, and photos within Salesforce
Manages volunteer applicants and tracks pending applicants
Performs position related duties as assigned
Provide exceptional customer service to all New England Aquarium staff, volunteers, interns and applicants
Skills/Qualifications:
Requires minimum of 2 years of completed undergraduate study
Interest in the fields of volunteer administration, database management, organizational efficiency, human resources, and other social sciences
Self-motivated and detail-oriented; strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving abilities; ability to work independently as well as on a team
Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication (verbal and written), and relationship building skills
Demonstrated experience working in a fast paced environment and customer service experience strongly preferred
Preferred experience working with diverse racial/socioeconomic populations and familiarity with NEAq programs
Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and GoogleDocs required, familiarity with Hands-On-Connect and Salesforce preferred
Programming experience, especially with Javascript, a plus.
