The Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition (MBCC) is dedicated to preventing environmental causes of breast cancer through community education, research advocacy, and changes to public policy.
About the Internship:
MBCC is seeking a Communications & Outreach Intern to support all events from February 2025 through Winter 2025, particularly our annual fundraising Against the Tide events. MBCC will host its 33rd Annual Against the Tide event at DCR’s Hopkinton State Park on Saturday, June 14th. The following weekend, MBCC will host its second Against the Tide event at DCR’s Nickerson State Park (new Cliff Pond location) on Saturday, June 21st, 2025 in Brewster, MA. Events include 1-mile recreational and competitive swims, a ½-mile recreational swim, USATF-Certified 5K and 10K runs, and a 3-mile fitness walk.
The internship offers a work-from-home structure, with phone and internet as the primary communication tools. As an intern, you will work closely with our team to support the planning and execution of various nonprofit fundraising events. This internship provides hands-on experience in event management, communications, outreach, social media, and database management.
Qualifications:
- College or Graduate students with a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines independently
- Proficiency in social media platforms, Excel, and/or Google Sheets
- Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and a team player
- Passion for the mission of MBCC
Requirements:
- At least 15 morning hours per week
- Attendance at both Against the Tide events as a pro-bono volunteer:
- June 14th in Hopkinton, MA
- June 21st in Brewster, MA (MBCC will provide accommodation)
Compensation:
Academic credit or volunteer-based experience
This position will run from February 2025 through December 2025.
