COMPUTER-SCIENCE & MATH
Seeking a full-time computer-science & math instructor for the 2021-2022 school year (target start date of Mon 9 Aug 2021) at Liberty Common School in Fort Collins, Colorado – a Poudre School District charter school dedicated to Core Knowledge principles, and college-preparatory instruction. The school currently enrolls approximately 1150 students in grades K-12.
LCHS provides excellence and fairness in education by teaching: 1) a contextual body of organized knowledge, 2) the skills of learning, and 3) the values of a democratic society. This is done through parental choice, partnership with teachers, and student acceptance of responsibility for his/her academic effort.
The instructor has responsibility for program planning, curriculum development, and delivery of computer-science and math classes for junior-high and high-school students, in cooperation with the school’s existing computer-science and math departments. Classes potentially include 7th-Grade Computer Essentials (typing, Microsoft Office, Google Docs, and basic computing skills), Introduction to Programming (Python), Computer Security Fundamentals, Algebra 1, and Algebra 2. Applicants should be dedicated to a strong skills and knowledge-based curriculum, and dedicated to high student achievement.
Desire and willingness to learn about Liberty’s history and philosophy and to uphold and promote the mission and values of the school.
BA/BS in computer science, math, or related discipline, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in one or more teams.
Demonstrated effective classroom teaching ability.
Ability to sit and stand (conducive to an office environment) for extended periods of time.
Ability to lift and move loads of up to 30 pounds over short distances.
Understanding of Liberty Common School’s history and a commitment to maintaining and promoting the school’s mission and values.
MS/MA in computer science, math, or related discipline, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Experience or background in teaching higher-level computer science (AP computer science).
Experience or background in networking and/or computer security.
Starting annual salary of $40,000 (possibly higher based on background, experience, and/or institutional alignment).
Enrollment in Colorado’s Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA) and employer contributions to your PERA retirement account.
Earned sick leave in accord with Colorado’s Healthy Families and Workplaces (HFWA) Act.
