CLINIC NURSE PRACTITIONER
DEPARTMENT: HEALTH DEPARTMENT, CITY OF NEW HAVEN
The Nurse Practitioner acts as a member of the program team in providing services to clinic patients and individuals seeking clinic services. The Nurse Practitioner’s role in the organization is to provide full time clinical coverage, continuity in patient care, and health education services as well as to give assistance in evaluation and planning. Interacting with other staff members in total patient care, the Nurse Practitioner serves in a clinical capacity as a practitioner for patients and is expected to maintain confidentiality at all times.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS include:
Graduation from an accredited program of nursing with nurse practitioner preparation in a formal continuing education program with a Masters’ or Doctorate Degree in nursing. Completion of an OB/GYN Nurse Practitioner training program and internship accepted by NAACOG, or certified Nurse Practitioner in a related field preferred. At least two (2) years’ experience as a licensed Advanced Practice Registered Nurse; and the training and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities as stated in the job description, including but not limited to: Ability to read and write English required. Bilingual (English/Spanish) desired; considerable knowledge of standards of care and service delivery offered in a clinic or ambulatory care setting preferred; Considerable knowledge of Federal and State laws governing clinic licensing and practice; Ability to be effective in teaching health information and providing expert advice. Current knowledge of medicines, vaccines, and storage requirements.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by the State of Connecticut Department of Public Health.
