About the role:
Cambridge University Press’ Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) Journals team is looking for an Editorial Assistant to support the Publishers and Editors managing our portfolio of prestigious scholarly journals. This is a full-time entry-level role. It would serve as a great career starting point for someone interested in the world of academic publishing and scholarly research.
The Journals EA should be efficient, collaborative, and adaptable. You would support our team in preparing reports, data analysis, accounts, and other documents related to the development of our journals. You would be responsible for providing administrative support such as maintaining spreadsheets and information in our databases. You would shadow our team in meetings with external editors and publishing partners and engage with external communication as needed. You would be involved in discussions about the future of academic journals publishing, supporting our team as we transition journals towards an open access future.
We are looking for someone who can tackle requests and issues quickly, manage multiple projects at once, and communicate professionally and cordially with internal and external stakeholders. This role involves only a minimal amount of copyediting and almost no amount of manuscript review. Our Journals Editorial Team oversees the development and operations of our journals, but external academics review papers for publication. You do not need any specific subject matter expertise, but we would like to see a passion for HSS research, academic communities, and/or publishing.
