The Boston Medical Center Department of Public Safety (BMC DPS) is actively recruiting for full-time Public Safety Officers. The BMC DPS is a proprietary department with approximately 75 sworn and non-sworn personnel providing the security and police services to the Boston Medical Center. Boston Medical Center (BMC), located in the South End of Boston, is the largest safety net hospital in New England and the largest and busiest provider of trauma and emergency services in New England and is in the top ten in the nation in Emergency Department visits last year. BMC treats approximately 90 percent of the victims of violent crime occurring throughout the city’s neighborhoods.
The BMC DPS seeks candidates who have a high degree of moral and ethical values, enjoys working with people of all walks of life, demonstrates a willingness to learn and apply training and skills in the service of others. The BMC DPS, as the primary law enforcement agency for the Boston Medical Center, is responsible for addressing violations of medical center policy and state laws and city ordinances. Officers gain significant skill and experience in conflict resolution, verbal de-escalation, and the use of discretion, and handling stressful, dynamic and complex emergencies.
