The Laboratories of Cognitive Neuroscience (LCN) at Boston Children’s are dedicated to furthering our understanding of brain and cognitive development in children diagnosed with or at risk for various developmental disorders. Through this collaborative and comprehensive approach, we aim to drive the science forward as rapidly as possible, so that we can translate what we learn into earlier identification, improved therapies, and better outcomes for children and families affected by developmental disorders.
The Wilkinson Lab at the Labs of Cognitive Neuroscience at Boston Children’s is seeking a Clinical Research Assistant II (CRA) to work on projects investigating brain development in young children with neurodevelopmental disorders, including Fragile X Syndrome and Down syndrome. Using measures of brain activity (including EEG), coupled with cognitive, language, and behavioral assessments, along with parent report measures, we aim to identify brain markers associated with developmental challenges facing these populations. Our multidisciplinary team of researchers and physicians brings together experts from a wide range of fields, including neuroscience, psychology, developmental behavioral pediatrics, and child neurology.
The CRA will be involved in all aspects of the research process with close mentorship from the principal and co-investigators, with opportunities to work directly with patients and research participants. Primary duties will include scheduling visits, following established protocols for EEG acquisition and behavioral assessments, database maintenance, data processing and analyses, and manuscript preparation. We are primarily interested in candidates with experience in working with young children with neurodevelopmental disorders. Data processing occurs in MATLAB and Python using Jupyter notebooks. Prior experience with these languages is desired but not required. This position will provide experiences working in both clinical and research settings, with mentored opportunities to develop additional skills.
- Experience working with young children with neurodevelopmental disorders
- Bachelor’s Degree in developmental/clinical psychology, cognitive science, neuroscience, computer science, electrical engineering or related field
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Availability for flexible scheduling including evenings and weekends
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills with diverse populations
- Prior research experience, especially in a cognitive neuroscience or signal processing lab
- Experience with some of the following systems/coding languages: Redcap, MATLAB, Python, Jupyter notebooks
- Minimum of two year commitment
During a public health emergency, individuals in this role may be expected to take on additional duties to respond to organizational needs.
