STUDENT INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTIONPOSITION TITLE: Campus Recreation Marketing Intern DEPARTMENT: Campus RecreationSTATUS: Internship – 120 Hours/semesterREPORTS DIRECTLY TO: Director of Recreation APPLICATION DEADLINE: December 15, 2019 BASIC PURPOSE: Campus Recreation, and the Plourde Recreation Center is a part of the division of Student Affairs. Subsequently, the Marketing Intern contributes to the development of a vibrantco-curricular life that supports seamless learning initiatives and educational opportunities within the context of Catholic Higher education.This position is primarily responsible for promoting events, activities and programs offered at thePlourde Recreation Center including, but not limited to, club sports, intramurals and fitness classes. This position will require the intern to be in charge of making posters to advertise the events, attend various events in order to take pictures and video, and update the social media accounts on what is going on at the Plourde Recreation Center. The intern will work information booths prior to intramural seasons and fitness classes to promote the events and allow students to sign up there; as well as work with Resident Assistants to promote events in residence halls.The intern will also be in charge of gathering data through surveys and other methods and then analyzing the data and make recommendations on ways to improve the programs offered by Campus Recreation. The intern will meet with the Director and Assistant Director of Recreation weekly to discuss weekly goals and provide updates on trends occurring and ways of increasing attendance at events. This position will require 8-10 hours of work each week. Responsibilities:Represent the Assumption College Campus Recreation by maintaining a professional attitude in keeping with the department’s mission.Attend weekly marketing meetings with the Director and/or Assistant Director of Recreation.· Work with Office Staff to create posters and other marking materials for all Campus Recreation programs.· Assist the Assistant Director of Recreation in maintaining an active presence on all social media channels for the department and its Club Sports including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.· In addition to print and digital promotion, the marketing intern will also be responsible for marketing Campus Recreation programs through tabling in Charlies & Taylor, visiting the dorms, attending events and other face-face promotional opportunities.· The Marketing Intern will also assist with the distribution of Campus Recreation surveys and the analyzation of the results of the surveys to help better understand the needs of the students.· The Marketing Intern will be expected to attend monthly Supervisor meetings, and other appropriate department meetings in order to have a strong awareness of current and future programming in the department.Perform other duties as assigned.Required Skills:· Knowledge of social media websites including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.· Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel & Publisher.· Strong public speaking skills.· Strong verbal communication skills.Ability and willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as Plourde Recreation Center schedule requires.Qualifications: · Must be willing to contribute actively to the mission of the College as well as show respect for the Catholic and Assumptionist identity of Assumption College· Ability to work independently and possess energy and enthusiasm. · The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate, and have a strong verbal and written communication skills, the ability to effectively collaborate with campus departments and community members, the capacity for exceptional organization skills, and public speaking.Scope: · Interacts on a daily basis with students, faculty, administrators, and staff.Work is evening and nighttime hours.
