The Registered Nursing Monitor (RNM) is responsible for the development, implementation and supervision of all systems involving medication administration for the agency. Hours are primarily in the evening. This includes assisting in overseeing the proficiency and delivery of medical related services for the agency. The RNM will maintain all MAP regulatory requirements for the agency. The RNM will work in conjunction with Quality Assurance (QA) to ensure that all MAP site locations are functioning under current State regulatory guidelines. The RNM will assist QA during licensing reviews in the areas of MAP and Medical Training. The RNM is responsible for maintaining the training records for medical related trainings such as MAP, OSHA, First Aid and CPR. The RNM works directly with the Director of Children’s Services and the Director of Health Care Services in ensuring that all individuals receive appropriate support and care for all health care issues.
Provides ongoing Quality Assurance by monitoring a MAP site’s medication administration system to ensure compliance with DPH, DMH and DCF regulations, licensing requirements and MAP policies .This is accomplished by conducting reviews of medication administration practices at regular intervals that include but are not limited to:
- a) Observing Certified staff administering medication to verify that they are following correct MAP policies, procedures and protocols (see also #3 below);
- b) Verifying that the prescribing practitioner’s orders are on site, current and properly transcribed;
- c) Verifying that medications dispensed by the pharmacy correspond with those medications prescribed by the practitioner;
- d) Verifying that all medication is being administered in accordance with the prescribing practitioner’s written order;
- e) Verifying that medication is being properly procured and stored;
- f) Verifying that the program site has a current Massachusetts Controlled Substance Registration (MCSR) on-site and appropriate documentation of all Certified staff administering medication at the site;
- g) Reviewing documentation of medications being administered at the site to ensure that proper clinical protocols are in place and are being observed, e.g., monitoring vital signs, blood glucose monitoring, and appropriate practitioner notification; and,
- h) Reviewing Medication Occurrence Reports (MORs) to determine areas where further training or other intervention may be needed

Qualifications:
- Must be a RN upon hire; must have 2 years nursing experience
- First Aid and CPR Certification (American Heart Association) or ability to become certified
- MAP Certification or ability to become certified
- Must have and retain an active driver’s license
