These groupings are meant to help you connect your coursework, experiences, and goals, but they are not intended to define or limit your options.

Actuarial Analyst – Use mathematics, statistics, and financial theory to analyze risk and help insurance companies, pension funds, or consulting firms make data-informed decisions.
Cybersecurity Analyst – Monitor networks and systems, investigate security incidents, and help protect organizations from cyberattacks and data breaches.
Data Analyst – Collect, clean, and interpret data to help organizations make informed decisions in areas such as business, healthcare, government, or nonprofit work.

Secondary School Math or Science Teacher* – Teach mathematics, physics, or related subjects in middle or high schools while supporting students’ growth in problem-solving and critical thinking.

First-Year: Explore
Get curious about computing, engineering, and mathematics by joining organizations like Cybersecurity Club and Esports, or by exploring leadership and professional development through groups such as Business Professionals of America, Campus Activities Board (CAB), and Heights Yearbook. Take introductory courses, attend tech- and STEM-related events, and start building connections with faculty, staff, and peers. Begin a basic résumé and complete beginner-level LinkedIn Learning courses related to technology, problem-solving, and professional skills.
Sophomore Year: Build
Deepen your involvement by taking intermediate courses in computer science, math, physics, or engineering pathways and stepping into more active or leadership roles in student organizations. Strengthen technical skills through class projects, labs, or competitions and complete LinkedIn Learning courses that build programming, data, cybersecurity, or analytical skills. Meet with career coaches to discuss potential internships, research experiences, or dual-degree engineering options.
Junior Year: Engage
Secure (or complete) at least one internship, research role, or technical position (such as IT support or help desk) to apply your skills in professional settings. Attend networking events, career fairs, and employer visits related to technology, engineering, data, or quantitative roles, and actively build your LinkedIn presence by highlighting projects and experiences. Seek mentorship from faculty, alumni, or professionals in your areas of interest.

Senior Year: Launch
Launch with clarity. Apply best practices as you pursue full-time roles, graduate school, or service opportunities connected to computing, engineering, mathematics, and related fields. Use Resources to tailor résumés, cover letters, and portfolios, practice interviews (including technical or case-style), and refine your job or graduate school search. Continue engaging with student organizations and events to expand your network and support your transition beyond Assumption.
