Winter Break Tips for Success

Congratulations on making it through the semester, Hounds! You have all earned a few weeks of rest and relaxation before the spring semester starts up.

This downtime is the perfect opportunity to take important steps in your career/internship/post graduate preparation, or to explore majors and fields that might be a fit for you. Whether you’re interested exploring majors/careers, finding an internship, preparing your graduate school applications, or diving into the job search…. Here are a few ways you can make the most out of your winter break:

First years:

Sophomores & Juniors:

  • Update resume and upload it into Handshake for review
  • Search for and apply to internship opportunities (There are over 1,500 internships in Handshake and many of them are remote!)
  • Create LinkedIn profile
  • Network with family members & friends (Begin to build your professional network by sharing your interests with everyone)
  • Research graduate school options
  • Use Big Interview to practice answering interview questions

Seniors:

  • Continue to build network through LinkedIn and with family members & friends (Continue to build your professional network by sharing your interests with everyone)
  • Update resume and upload it to Handshake for review
  • Use Big Interview to practice answering interview questions
