Victoria Stowell ’20 on the impact of the Accounting Career & Internship Fair

“My name is Victoria Stowell and I am a senior at Assumption College. As a result of taking advantage of the free 6th class for making Dean’s List, I will be graduating a semester early, December 2019. I will be starting my MBA at Assumption in the Spring 2020.”

“I truly believe the Accounting Career Fair jumpstarted my journey into public accounting. The Accounting Career fair gave me not only the opportunity to meet various types of firms but develop my communication skills. I was able to perfect my resume as well as work techniques for interviewing. Although I walked into the Accounting Career Fair hoping that I would get an internship, I understood that the experience that this event provides would truly prepare me for what it will be like to job search. Fortunately, I received interest from firms and was given the chance to interview for their internships. At the end of the search, I chose to intern with AAFCPAs in Westborough, Massachusetts. Through my summer audit internship, I was exposed to various industries, work, and clients. The internship gave me an understanding of what the auditing career path is like as well as the experience to develop my soft skills. As the internship ended, I was lucky enough to get offered a job. I decided to reach out to a few other firms to explore my options because my deadline did not allow me to attend the Accounting Career Fair. Although I was nervous that the other firms would not get back to me because I hadn’t been in contact with them for awhile, the relationships I made at Accounting Career Fair helped keep the doors open. I have accepted a position as Audit Staff at Citrin Cooperman in their Providence Office.”
